PR Videos

So one of the many new features in X and Y is the ability to make PR Videos. In Lumiose City there is a Studio that allows you to film these short videos, which star your character and Pokemon if you choose. You can add premade captions and special effects. Before you make them you can change your appearance slightly, like adding fake facial hair, or freckles. The videos are fun little clips that you can share with a passerby over the PSS.

Here is one of mine, with a bit of bad editing to spice it up.

Pokemon X and Y

Pokemon X and Y finally came out last Saturday and I have been playing Y quite a bit since then. I am not super far in because I have been training with one particular part of the game, so I can't give a in depth review of sorts. But I will give my first impressions, the game is crazy. It could be that this is my first 3DS game, but the graphics blew me away.
Here are some pictures comparing Y to White 2, (sorry about the blurry White 2 image) the point being things have improved. The game is bit more complicated, the battles are 3D and the moves are more custom for each Pokemon, I evolved a Pokemon with my 3DS upside-down, and in addition to the bicycle there are roller skates early in the game. Not only are there crazy features/graphics but it like most Pokemon games it is incredibly fun. Let's just say I have spent about 50 hours playing and I only have the first badge. I will talk more about some of the features, and add more photos and maybe video later.

Adventure Time

For the last day or two I have been playing the DS game Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! Why'd you steal our garbage?!!, and I have to say it was a lot of fun. The weird story is exactly what I have to come to expect from Pendleton Ward and the other great people that work on Adventure Time. A whole video game devoted to Finn and Jake hunting down poor ol' Ice King for pulling pranks for attention, was an interesting thing for them to do, and I think it works. With fun items like Tree Trunk's pies, and Billy's Sword, and many cool moves for Finn and Jake to learn, the game is packed with great features.

Since I had Adventure Time on the brain I decided to doodle some of the characters.
Adventure Time face line art, also in color.

Pokemon Work

I may have completed the National Dex but there is plenty of work left to do on my White version before X and Y comes out (not long now). See when I first started working on the Dex, it was decided that I would keep a "physical" representation of only the final evolve forms (if applicable) in the PC to save a bit of room. But now with the release of the Pokemon Bank sometime in the future, I am moving Pokemon around making room to go ahead and have the complete Pokedex in my PC. It will involve a lot of breeding and evolving but I think I should be able to complete it (or at least get a good way in) before X and Y are released. Hopefully I can get some better pictures to show proof of what I am doing. I am starting with the 1st gen and already made space and put the pre-evolved form that I already have in there with the big kids. So now I am down to the busy work, breeding and leveling.

The Clip Is Fake

Yesterday the X and Y themed 3DS XLs came out, and since I could afford one and X and Y are coming out soon and I don't have a 3DS I bought one. I will start this review type thing with the disclaimer that this would be my first 3DS type thing so most features are new to me, and comparing it to the original 3DS is not something I could do, other than the obvious: it is bigger.

The Pokemon 3DS XLs are pretty cool looking, on the front the feature Xerneas and Yveltal with on top of the letters X and Y. On the back under the various information is the watermarked X and Y again, and in the lower right corner the newest starters.

I will start of with the physical features of this 3DS XL that are pretty appealing. The screen size being the most obvious, the top screen is massive, and the touch screen is nothing to scoff at. After using a DSi for quite a while the difference is fun. The placement of the Start and Select buttons along with the new (at least for me) Home button at the bottom of the DS seems like a nice placement to me.  Those buttons and the power button being bigger is also fun. I was a bit wary about the separation of the wireless light from the power and charging lights, but it has grown on me the latter two being on the bottom. Obviously I have never played a DS with an analog stick but this "Circle Pad" is quite useful. The placement is quite useful, being right above the  D-Pad for use with the same thumb.

The new software is quite different from anything I am familiar with, the home menu is similar to the DSi in that it has icons in a row that show games and DS applications. But other things are a bit more advanced. One I really enjoy is the brightness settings being int the top left side, instead of having to go to system settings. Next to that are features that seem to able to be used while applications and games are "suspended". The first of which is Game Notes which allow the user to take notes on what game is suspended. There is also a Friend List and Notifications. The last of the four being the browser, which is pretty cool that it can be used while having an application suspended.

So after picking up or 3DSs my friend and I were looking at cases that would fit our new systems. Not being big case people we decided that a stylus pen was actually a selling point. So I ended up getting the big case (shown above) that has plenty of slots for games, comes with ear buds, a car charger, two stylus pens, screen protectors, and a cloth. So when I open up the case and look at the pens, it takes me a bit, but I notice that where a clip would normally be there is just a plastic curve.

Thank You!!!

Completing my White National Dex, took a long time and a good bit of playing, training, catching, and trading, and special events. But I certainly didn't do it alone, today I would like to thank everyone who helped me through out this journey. It started when my friend Joe and I got Black and White, together we used our respective game and helped each other complete the Unova/Isshu Pokedex. Then became the hard part, over the next few years, it was transferring, trading, catching, going to Gamestop or using WiFi for events, and asking for certain Pokemon when ever I could.

So I would like to thank everyone I have ever traded with, my friends, Gamestop, and of course Game Freak, Nintendo, and The Pokemon Company. Below is a list of the OT's of the Pokemon that come together to equal my complete Pokedex, due to restraints on the box system, right now I only have enough room to have the final evolve forms in my box. Sorry for the bad hand writing.
Thank you everyone.
And to finish it off, thanks everyone who reads this blog, it was a real driving force in completing the Pokedex and hopefully, I will have more fun projects!!

Shaymin Get!! National Dex Complete!

This week after many attempts I finally found someone who had a legit Shaymin, and was willing to trade it to me. After the Deoxys event in May, Shaymin was the last Pokemon I needed to have all 649, and officially complete my National Dex on my White version. For the past 4 months I asked friends, people online, and almost anyone I saw who seemed like the played Pokemon, if they had the legendary Pokemon. Sadly none of them had that specific Pokemon, but were pretty interested in my almost complete Pokedex.
In celebration of getting a Shaymin,
I drew a quick portrayal of the last
Pokemon I need to complete my Dex.
Then the other day, after getting reacquainted with an old friend, he messaged me asking if I had a couple Pokemon he needed. Of course I did and was happy to help him out, but first I asked the simple question: "That depends, do you have a Shaymin?" He quickly responded with a yes, and soon the trades were made, and I finally had a Shaymin!

Soon I will make an official celebration post with pictures of my Pokedex and maybe more celebratory drawings. If there are any suggestions on what I should post to celebrate feel free to give them!

Deoxys WiFi Event

Today is the beginning of the Deoxys WiFi Event, it continues from now until the end of the month. Sadly it is only for BW2 but luckily I do have W2 so I was able to get one. This Deoxys is level 100 and as I am sure most of you know Deoxys is quite a rare sight, I want to say this will be my first Deoxys! When I trade it over that will be one less Pokemon for my National Dex. So I am pretty excited, but I know I only have about 5 months before X and Y come out so I need to hurry up and get Shaymin.
To celebrate here is some more of my art! Here are 3 forms.

Meloetta Event

I cut it close but yesterday I picked up Meloetta at gamestop. It was level 50 and came with a PP Max, I am pretty excited because with Meloetta that means I officially only need 2 more Pokemon before finishing the National Dex!! Deoxys and Shaymin, I really hope I can find them soon because with gen 6  coming out soon I would really like to say I had all of them before setting to work on a new adventure.
As a bonus here is some really bad Meloetta Art I drew.

Boring Games Channel

A friend and I have been working on a YouTube channel by the name of the Boring Games Channel. It is still a work in progress but what we have planned on doing is once a week I upload a video of me playing a game most of the time a simple flash game, when we can acquire a PVR system the games can be more diverse, then my friend Joe uploading a video of him playing the same game. The difference being he will actually be good at it. If you so dare to watch me spaz about playing the Classic Snake Game here is the first BGC Video. As the saying goes be brutal, it is quite a work in progress, not sure exactly when the corresponding video goes up. Hopefully we will work out a schedule for updates.

Cloud Wars

For what ever reason my PS3 controller is being weird, making it impossible to play games on it. So I have been playing some games on Kongregate, the most prominent being a simple game by the name of Cloud Wars. Cloud Wars is a game of strategy using clouds, in which your cloud must take over the other clouds, including neutral, pink, and orange clouds. You take over clouds by sending a part of one of your clouds to a target cloud, how powerful that part of the cloud is depends on whether or not the take over will be successful. On easy the clouds have the numbers on them so you can more easily gauge what to do. The game also has power ups in the form of weather conditions; Lightning- a speed increase, Rain- Capacity increase, and Sun- the rate of increasing power increases. You can upgrade a cloud with a star, stars randomly appear on the map and can be grabbed the same way you target a cloud. It is a simple but really fun, game. When my friend first showed it to me, I tried playing on hard. I didn't get too far, but after beating once on easy I understood how to play it better, so I was able to beat on hard, quite easily.

Dark Cloud - Georama

Georama- The Georama system is probably the most important part of the game. It is the building system and a big way to progress the story. Using the Atlamillia to store Atla and return the the village you can use the stored Atla to rebuild the villages. When you open the Georama menu you can choose to customize buildings, place some, remove some, or check your status. Most buildings have about 6 slots for people and objects to be placed in them. Some are quite obvious like the house's owner and a lamp or fence, but some require talking to the residents of the house. When you complete a house/building to the people's instructions something happens. It could be something simple like getting an item, or something quite important like an ally or the village's shop opening. With the power of the Atlamillia you can completely rearrange the village not just rebuild, so some residents have requests. Making the villagers happy can be anything from having the house a certain way for the sun to hit a certain window, or have the shop near houses for a large customer base. These things add up to the overall satisfaction of the village and is quite important in the long run. I am sure there is something I am forgetting but that is pretty much an overview of the Georama system.

Dark Cloud - Weapons

Weapons- The weapon system is pretty fun in Dark Cloud. The weapons are what are leveled up in Dark Cloud so understanding how to customize your weapon is quite important. Weapons in this game have health and experience well not necessarily called that but you get the point. All weapons but a character's default weapon will disappear when it loses all its health. That is why it is important to keep a repair powder handy to heal it before a weapon breaks. A weapon also gains experience with each defeated monster when a weapon levels up it gains stats, and some stats or attributes can be enhanced even more with items equipped to the weapon while it is leveled up once leveled up those items are permanently added to the weapon's stats. Items can up things like the attack, speed, and endurance, as well as increasing the damage to certain types of monsters: equipping the undead buster will increase damage to skeleton type monsters. Weapons can have a type attribute, the type can be changed if the weapon has enough points in that attribute. So one can change a weapon depending on what kind of monsters are being faced. Depending on what kind of stats a weapon has it can be built up into a stronger weapon, also at level 5 a weapon can be broken down and used to upgrade other weapons with 60% of the original weapons stats.

Dark Cloud - Various

Dark Cloud is a pretty fun game. You are a young boy by the default name of Toan, trying to rebuild an defend his world from the Dark Genie, who was recently released from imprisonment by a power seeking man. Shortly after Toan watches his village being destroyed by the Dark Genie, he is greeted by the Faerie King who explains to him the danger of the Dark Genie and how he can help. Toan is granted the stone Atlamillia, with it the power to restore people, buildings, and other structures/things. The Faerie King saved the various towns/villages by storing its elements in Atla which Toan can access with the Atlamillia and rebuild his world. The Dark Genie's powers spread the Atla to various dungeons like the Divine Beast Cave near Norune Village.

Dungeons- Dungeons are about half of the Dark Cloud game-play. In the average floor you will find monsters, Atla, item chests, and a spring. To get to the next floor you got to find the dungeon key, which will normally be held by a random monster on the floor, it can be the first monster you fight or the last. The floor plan of the dungeon floors are random and are different each time you go to the levels, but the amount of Atla a level has is constant. If you lose all your health in the dungeon you are forced back to the surface and lose your gold. When you find the floor exit you can choose to go to next floor or temporarily exit to restock on items or rearrange the village. Some floors have no, or one special, Atla and are mostly for either a Boss battle or cut scene. Some floors are limited floors, which have some sort of stipulation like, "No items" or "Using only this ally."

Allies- Throughout the game Toan is joined by friends who can help him in dungeons. There are six I believe. There are parts of the dungeon that can only be accessed by a certain ally like a small river that must be jumped by Xiao ( a cat who was transformed with a potion into a human, still has cat features like ears and a tail). Different allies have different weapons / ways of attacking. Like magic, and different weapons like Xiao's slingshot. In the limited floors that restrict to certain allies that ally must finish the floor alone, since Toan can not be used you don't have to worry about Atla. But sometimes the monsters can be quite bothersome if the ally you must use is under leveled and most of the time it seems like the levels are designed to have monster strong against that specific ally.

Next time I will talk about other aspects of the game like the weapon system, and start talking about villages and the Georama system.

What game next?

So today I had the pleasure of hanging out with some friends, after playing a bit of Kirby, MediEvil came up and since one of my friends never heard of it, I checked how much it was on the PlayStation store , and I had almost exactly enough in my bank account to get it (I did have to transfer like $0.04 to my checking account to have enough.) So we played that for a bit, oh it was pretty fun. So my dilemma now is what game should I play next, I am almost finished with the story of Pokemon White 2. So I will have time for a new game. I guess the options are Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, Dark Cloud, MediEvil, and possibly to finally finish FFXIII (I think I got stuck on a part...). Let me know what you think.

Wheezy Gamer

So I recently went to YouTube to catch up on stuff, and one of the people I subscribe to a popular Vlogger Wheezy Waiter has recently started to do Gaming Videos. He started with The Legend of Zelda, then Dark Souls, and most recently Super Mario Bros. I haven't watched much of the others but I did watch the Super Mario Bros. one. Sadly I don't think I ever played that one I started off with a SNES as a child, but watching him play it, makes me want a SNES quite badly. He is also doing an interesting thing instead of just playing through the game he is playing through it without dying if he dies he restarts. If you want you can catch his video. I wonder how many times it will take him.

Boktai

Today I want to talk about the video game Boktai. If you have played it before I would love to hear about your experience with it. I have not played it in quite a while, but I remember having tons of fun with it and I might need to buy or find it to play it soon.

Boktai was a game for the Game Boy Advance that used a small solar panel to analyze the amount of sunlight hitting it and use it in the game. The main character, Django, used his Gun de Sol to fight various creatures like spiders, and the boss Vampire. Without sunlight his gun does not really work, there were special items in the game that would give a small amount of sunlight even when you did not have any but other than that you can't really use the gun. There are other parts of the game that needed sun as well panels that would not be there with out and stuff like that.

I remember countless days going out side looking for the best place for sunlight, or sitting next to the window, to beat that last enemy of the day. It was a fun game.

League of Legends Season 2 Finals

I didn't really follow much of Season 2, just play games. But my friends and I caught some of the championships. We watched a few of the semi final matches, but most importantly we were able to catch the Final matches between Taipei Assassins and Azubu Frost. When the matches started the fan favorite seemed to be Taipei Assassins (TPA), though Azubu Frost (AF) seemed to have more of an advantage. The first game TPA got an early lead, ahead in gold and kills, and it looked like their game. AF though started to dominate team fights and eventually turned it quite around and pulled off a complete win on TPA. Both teams seemed to be great at being flexible and learning from losses, but I personally believed TPA to be able to take that first loss and completely dominate the rest. I happened to be right, since this was the finals it would be best of 5 instead of 3 so TPA would have to win the next 3 games to win. Which they did, in the second game the champion bans were a little different which meant they could use the champion combos to make a combo and keep the gold/kill lead throughout the game. They happened to do the same and TPA brought home the fancy trophy and the title of LoL Season 2 World Champions.

Pokemon White 2

So when I confirmed the date for the release of Pokemon Black and White 2, I was excited and was really hoping to pre-order both like I have for the last few pair. Sadly this year I was only able to afford one and got it the weekend after it was released but all is good. I still got it in time to get the Genesect WiFi event, well it will still be up until mid November. I actually have him on my team, but soon I will trade him over to White and have my Nation Dex at 646!!!

Some of you may be wondering what the differences are between BW and BW2. Well there are plenty, this game starts 2 years in the future in a new town in the mountains to the west of the mainland. The rivals of BW's protagonist are now have jobs that interact with your character. Bianca works with the Pokemon Professor Juniper, and gives you your first Pokemon and Pokedex. And in one of the other new cities Cheren is now the normal gym leader. And I believe the BW protagonist also makes an appearance in in game tournaments. Another new gym is the poison gym in the port town that has ferries to Castelia City from there it sort of becomes more like the first games but the routes you take are still in different order with some blocked temporarily.

Other differences include construction sites that were under way two years ago are now finished like the road in the desert route 4, and the cold storage in Driftveil is now the Pokemon World Tournament, well Driftveil in general is a lot different it is now a tourist town and has tons of fancy hotels. Gyms have been remodeled, they were already drastically different from older gyms but now they have been upgraded further with new ways to get to the back and defeat the gym leader. Some gyms have been left where they were but are no longer a gym and new gym has been built.

The antagonist in these games are still Team Plasma but not really the same one. About half of Team plasma left and are still loyal to King N, while the others are still with Ghetsis and committing crimes. There seems to be mystery surrounding a shady character by the name of Colress he seems like he could be apart of Team Plasma maybe the new figure head but he says things to the contrary. I am probably wrong we will see.

I am only about halfway through but I will keep you posted when I get further.
