PR Videos

So one of the many new features in X and Y is the ability to make PR Videos. In Lumiose City there is a Studio that allows you to film these short videos, which star your character and Pokemon if you choose. You can add premade captions and special effects. Before you make them you can change your appearance slightly, like adding fake facial hair, or freckles. The videos are fun little clips that you can share with a passerby over the PSS.

Pokemon X and Y

Pokemon X and Y finally came out last Saturday and I have been playing Y quite a bit since then. I am not super far in because I have been training with one particular part of the game, so I can't give a in depth review of sorts. But I will give my first impressions, the game is crazy. It could be that this is my first 3DS game, but the graphics blew me away.

 Here are some pictures comparing Y to White 2, (sorry about the blurry White 2 image) the point being things have improved. The game is bit more complicated, the battles are 3D and the moves are more custom for each Pokemon, I evolved a Pokemon with my 3DS upside-down, and in addition to the bicycle there are roller skates early in the game. Not only are there crazy features/graphics but it like most Pokemon games it is incredibly fun. Let's just say I have spent about 50 hours playing and I only have the first badge. I will talk more about some of the features, and add more photos and maybe video later.

Pokemon Work

I may have completed the National Dex but there is plenty of work left to do on my White version before X and Y comes out (not long now). See when I first started working on the Dex, it was decided that I would keep a "physical" representation of only the final evolve forms (if applicable) in the PC to save a bit of room. But now with the release of the Pokemon Bank sometime in the future, I am moving Pokemon around making room to go ahead and have the complete Pokedex in my PC. It will involve a lot of breeding and evolving but I think I should be able to complete it (or at least get a good way in) before X and Y are released. Hopefully I can get some better pictures to show proof of what I am doing. I am starting with the 1st gen and already made space and put the pre-evolved form that I already have in there with the big kids. So now I am down to the busy work, breeding and leveling.

The Clip Is Fake

Yesterday the X and Y themed 3DS XLs came out, and since I could afford one and X and Y are coming out soon and I don't have a 3DS I bought one. I will start this review type thing with the disclaimer that this would be my first 3DS type thing so most features are new to me, and comparing it to the original 3DS is not something I could do, other than the obvious: it is bigger.

The Pokemon 3DS XLs are pretty cool looking, on the front the feature Xerneas and Yveltal with on top of the letters X and Y. On the back under the various information is the watermarked X and Y again, and in the lower right corner the newest starters.

I will start of with the physical features of this 3DS XL that are pretty appealing. The screen size being the most obvious, the top screen is massive, and the touch screen is nothing to scoff at. After using a DSi for quite a while the difference is fun. The placement of the Start and Select buttons along with the new (at least for me) Home button at the bottom of the DS seems like a nice placement to me.  Those buttons and the power button being bigger is also fun. I was a bit wary about the separation of the wireless light from the power and charging lights, but it has grown on me the latter two being on the bottom. Obviously I have never played a DS with an analog stick but this "Circle Pad" is quite useful. The placement is quite useful, being right above the  D-Pad for use with the same thumb. 

The new software is quite different from anything I am familiar with, the home menu is similar to the DSi in that it has icons in a row that show games and DS applications. But other things are a bit more advanced. One I really enjoy is the brightness settings being int the top left side, instead of having to go to system settings. Next to that are features that seem to able to be used while applications and games are "suspended". The first of which is Game Notes which allow the user to take notes on what game is suspended. There is also a Friend List and Notifications. The last of the four being the browser, which is pretty cool that it can be used while having an application suspended.

So after picking up or 3DSs my friend and I were looking at cases that would fit our new systems. Not being big case people we decided that a stylus pen was actually a selling point. So I ended up getting the big case (shown above) that has plenty of slots for games, comes with ear buds, a car charger, two stylus pens, screen protectors, and a cloth. So when I open up the case and look at the pens, it takes me a bit, but I notice that where a clip would normally be there is just a plastic curve.

Completing my White National Dex, took a long time and a good bit of playing, training, catching, and trading, and special events. But I certainly didn't do it alone, today I would like to thank everyone who helped me through out this journey. It started when my friend Joe and I got Black and White, together we used our respective game and helped each other complete the Unova/Isshu Pokedex. Then became the hard part, over the next few years, it was transferring, trading, catching, going to Gamestop or using WiFi for events, and asking for certain Pokemon when ever I could.

So I would like to thank everyone I have ever traded with, my friends, Gamestop, and of course Game Freak, Nintendo, and The Pokemon Company. Below is a list of the OT's of the Pokemon that come together to equal my complete Pokedex, due to restraints on the box system, right now I only have enough room to have the final evolve forms in my box. Sorry for the bad hand writing.

National Pokedex Complete! Pictures.

Shaymin Get!! National Dex Complete!

This week after many attempts I finally found someone who had a legit Shaymin, and was willing to trade it to me. After the Deoxys event in May, Shaymin was the last Pokemon I needed to have all 649, and officially complete my National Dex on my White version. For the past 4 months I asked friends, people online, and almost anyone I saw who seemed like the played Pokemon, if they had the legendary Pokemon. Sadly none of them had that specific Pokemon, but were pretty interested in my almost complete Pokedex.

Then the other day, after getting reacquainted with an old friend, he messaged me asking if I had a couple Pokemon he needed. Of course I did and was happy to help him out, but first I asked the simple question: "That depends, do you have a Shaymin?" He quickly responded with a yes, and soon the trades were made, and I finally had a Shaymin!

Soon I will make an official celebration post with pictures of my Pokedex and maybe more celebratory drawings. If there are any suggestions on what I should post to celebrate feel free to give them!

Deoxys WiFi Event

Today is the beginning of the Deoxys WiFi Event, it continues from now until the end of the month. Sadly it is only for BW2 but luckily I do have W2 so I was able to get one. This Deoxys is level 100 and as I am sure most of you know Deoxys is quite a rare sight, I want to say this will be my first Deoxys! When I trade it over that will be one less Pokemon for my National Dex. So I am pretty excited, but I know I only have about 5 months before X and Y come out so I need to hurry up and get Shaymin.

Meloetta Event

I cut it close but yesterday I picked up Meloetta at gamestop. It was level 50 and came with a PP Max, I am pretty excited because with Meloetta that means I officially only need 2 more Pokemon before finishing the National Dex!! Deoxys and Shaymin, I really hope I can find them soon because with gen 6  coming out soon I would really like to say I had all of them before setting to work on a new adventure.

Pokemon White 2

So when I confirmed the date for the release of Pokemon Black and White 2, I was excited and was really hoping to pre-order both like I have for the last few pair. Sadly this year I was only able to afford one and got it the weekend after it was released but all is good. I still got it in time to get the Genesect WiFi event, well it will still be up until mid November. I actually have him on my team, but soon I will trade him over to White and have my Nation Dex at 646!!!

Some of you may be wondering what the differences are between BW and BW2. Well there are plenty, this game starts 2 years in the future in a new town in the mountains to the west of the mainland. The rivals of BW's protagonist are now have jobs that interact with your character. Bianca works with the Pokemon Professor Juniper, and gives you your first Pokemon and Pokedex. And in one of the other new cities Cheren is now the normal gym leader. And I believe the BW protagonist also makes an appearance in in game tournaments. Another new gym is the poison gym in the port town that has ferries to Castelia City from there it sort of becomes more like the first games but the routes you take are still in different order with some blocked temporarily.

Other differences include construction sites that were under way two years ago are now finished like the road in the desert route 4, and the cold storage in Driftveil is now the Pokemon World Tournament, well Driftveil in general is a lot different it is now a tourist town and has tons of fancy hotels. Gyms have been remodeled, they were already drastically different from older gyms but now they have been upgraded further with new ways to get to the back and defeat the gym leader. Some gyms have been left where they were but are no longer a gym and new gym has been built.

The antagonist in these games are still Team Plasma but not really the same one. About half of Team plasma left and are still loyal to King N, while the others are still with Ghetsis and committing crimes. There seems to be mystery surrounding a shady character by the name of Colress he seems like he could be apart of Team Plasma maybe the new figure head but he says things to the contrary. I am probably wrong we will see.

I am only about halfway through but I will keep you posted when I get further.

Keldeo Event

I am so glad I did not find out too late! The Keldeo event is going on right now and does not end until the day before Pokemon BW2 comes out. So when I get the time and go to Game Stop my Black and White National Pokedex will be at 645!! One step closer to finishing the Pokedex.

Pokemon Black and White 2

I am getting excited in a month  the sequels to Pokemon Black and White are coming out. Still need to find a way to get money to get both otherwise I will just get one. With this I believe I will be closer to get all 649 Pokemon!

Pokemon Pinball

Just received a Gameboy color and a copy of Pokemon Pinball from Listia. I already had a Gamboy color but I could not resist since I did not pay much for it. I think I may have play Pokemon Pinball before but I am not sure, all I know is it is pretty awesome. A nice way to spend some time, I love pinball in general but really do not get many chances to play it. And this version is a little more fun than the version that came on the Windows a few years back, even though I love that too. Not only is it playing pinball but the bonuses include a Pokemon catching system, and different Kanto towns, and Pikachus that help keep the ball from going out of bounds.

So Close!!

After playing earlier games more to get Pokemon like Dialga and Palkia, and various Pokemon I needed from the 3rd generation, my National Pokedex is now at..... 644!!! That is right! I now only need 2 more Pokemon to have all the Pokemon currently available. The 2 Pokemon still needed you may ask, are Deoxys and Shaymin. Hopefully I will get them soon! Have a great day.

An Update

Sorry I have not been on in forever, my internet has been wonky. But I am back now! My Nation Dex is now at 605, yes that means I have less than 50 Pokemon to go, and once I migrate from Emerald a lot less than that.

Pokemon Toys at McDonald's!

When I first heard about these toys I was pretty excited. And after going to a few different McDonald's locations and with the help of some cool McDonald's employees I obtained all 8 of the toys!!

So we have been working on starting the League and we went to our local library and a good friend of ours sounded pretty optimistic about it we just need to go back next week to talk to the main person to make sure.

My National Dex is now at 580! Getting close.

Pokemon TCG!! League Play!

So, my friends and I finally got to go to a Pokemon League, and play the TCG with other people. We got our Player ID #s so we are thinking about starting our own local league nearby. It is going to be awesome. A Video of us playing. On our Youtube account: Gonnacatchall649.

Pokemon TCG!!

Finally really getting in to the TCG dusted off some old cards and bought two of the three new starter decks: Green Tornado and Blue Assault, probably going to pick up Red Frenzy soon. My friend and I have really been thinking about doing this for a while now and we finally are it makes me happy!

Also my National Dex is now at 546!

Pokemon Update!

Got a Voltorb today, now it is an Electrode, and I recently I have been making eggs and evolving, and trading with my friend so now my National Dex is at 460. So close, I just can't wait!
